Inversion เป็นเกมยิงในยุคอนาคตที่มีอุปกรณ์ล้ำยุคแนว Si-Fi ซึ่งผู้เล่นจะรับบทเป็นสองตำรวจหนุ่มนามว่าDavis Russel และ Leo Delgado คู่หูที่เข้ามาระงับเหตุการณ์ในเมืองที่กลุ่มก่อการร้ายทำให้แรงโน้มถ่วงแปรปรวน และตามหาลูกชายที่หายไปของ Davis ด้วย แน่นอนว่ามีตัวละครสองคนแบบนี้ก็ย่อมต้องเล่นแบบ Co-Op ช่วยกันสู้พร้อมกันสองคนได้แน่นอน ซึ่งอุปกรณ์การต่อสู้สำคัญที่มีให้ใช้ในเกมนี้เรียกว่า The Grappler ซึ่งสามารถใช้ควบคุมแรงโน้มถ่วงได้ จะเพิ่มแรงโน้มถ่วงให้วัตถุต่างๆหนักจนจมดินหรือจะทำให้เบาจนลอยได้ ก็แล้วแต่จะเลือก ซึ่งการควบคุมแรงโน้มถ่วงจะมีผลต่อปริศนาตามจุดต่างๆของเกม
